「昇進」は"promotion"と言います。「プロモーション」と言えば「販促」と言う意味で使うことが日本では多いですよね。実は"promotion"には「昇進」という意味もあります。例えば"I got a promotion"は直訳すると「私は昇進を獲得した！」、現代的な表現ですと「昇進、ゲット！」になります。＊尚、余談ですが「ゲット」はgetの過去形のgotを使いましょう。
昇進の話題で良く使われるのが出世です。"Up the corporate ladder"をご紹介しましょう。"corporate"は「法人」や「会社の」、"ladder"は「梯子」なので、「会社の梯子を登る」ということになります。つまり"promotion"（昇進）を重ね"Up the corporate ladder"（出世）しますということです。
